Simming or Simulations is a form of role-playing used primarily in Science-Fiction role-playing games that meet in chat rooms. Sims are often text-based, meaning the game depends on what players type to further a plot. For The Alliance of Incorporated Worlds, these sims take place on our message boards, and also in AOL and AIM chat rooms. |

It's about becoming a Council member or an Ambassador. |

Sims are a form of role-playing in which a player is asked to create a character of his or her own choosing. This character lives and breathes aboard a starship, a starbase, or an outpost. In The Alliance's case, the characters that are role-played tend to live on home worlds of The Alliance of Incorporated Worlds or Starbase Tranquility. Through that character, the player plays out a role that you could imagine seeing in a political organization half a millennium from now. Each player is assigned to either represent The Alliance to other governments in the Milky Way Galaxy as an Ambassador on Starbase Tranquility, or is assigned to represent the interests of the province to the Councils of The Alliance. |

Meetings each week, in chat rooms or message boards. |

In order to have a sim, players meet in a chat room usually for an hour to two hours on Saturdays at midnight eastern. Players assigned as Ambassadors then use their characters and their characters' skills to argue The Alliance's case in whatever proposals that are offered that night by the Intergalactic Alliance of Powers. Players assigned as council members use their characters to argue their province's case in The Alliance through the message boards. Proposals are provided by the Hosts in Starbase Tranquility, but on the message boards the proposals are provided through referendum, suggestion by the executive branch, or by the players themselves. The proposals provide places for characters to react. In a sense, simming is like writing a fictional plot for a Star Trek series. |

Why do we spend so much time simming? |

Why do this? Generation 2498's staff, and players believe that simming's primary goal and purpose is to have fun. Simming, if done well, can stretch your imagination to truly remarkable limits. As you and your crewmates try to recreate as realistically as possible the Star Trek universe, you will grow to enjoy creating additional characters, and will become more involved in the entire simming process. |
